Award-winning author Dennis R. Garcia returns to Kansas for the 15th Annual Kansas Book Festival at Washburn University in Topeka.

Dennis will participate in the Family Research and Remembrance panel at 2 p.m. in Room 120, Washburn Library, joining author Melanie Bonner Thomas and moderator Denise Low for a conversation about family journeys, memory, place, and the importance of preserving the stories that connect generations.

The discussion closely reflects the work behind Las Madres: Latinas in the Heartland Who Led Their Family to Success, Dennis’s award-winning family history centered on three generations of women whose lives were shaped by migration, hardship, perseverance, and the pursuit of greater opportunity for those who followed.

Dennis will also be exhibiting Las Madres throughout the festival, meeting readers and signing copies available for purchase.
