Award-winning author Dennis R. Garcia will bring Las Madres: Latinas in the Heartland Who Led Their Family to Success to the Sacramento Latino Book & Family Festival at Valley High School.

The festival brings together Latino authors, readers, and families for a community celebration of books, literacy, culture, and storytelling. Dennis will be in the Authors Village throughout the event, meeting readers and sharing more about the family history behind Las Madres.

Based on the lives of three generations of women in Dennis’s own family, Las Madres explores migration, perseverance, family, faith, and the experiences of Mexican American families across generations. The book was named a 2025 Kansas Notable Book and received three International Latino Book Awards.

Copies of Las Madres will be available for purchase and signing during the festival.
